TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Teaching gives me the opportunity to introduce students to the things that are most important to me. My passion for creating photographs drives me to create a passion within my students to understand photography in the context of the fine arts, filmmaking, literature and psychology.  I urge my students to move beyond the traditional approaches of expression and sharpen their perceptions of space and color. I make myself available to former students, engage in discussions and look at their imagery, collaborate on projects, and write letters of recommendation. My intent is to inspire both students majoring in the field and students who wish to understand contemporary photography and its role in fine art today.
